1980 Wimbledon Mens Singles Final: Borg vs McEnroe

The fierce rivalry between legends Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe is one which will live in the memory of not only Wimbledon, but Tennis as a whole.

In 1980 the pair once again clashed, on centre court for the Mens Singles Final, a final widely regarded as the best ever. Borg and McEnroe had both enjoyed success against the other before, and the 1980 final at Wimbledon was, as ever, a battle between Borg's technique and finesse, and McEnroe's power and determination.

Borg finally managed to beat McEnroe in a tantalising fifth set, in which he needed eight match points in all to succeed his old adversary.
