Roger Federer has stated that he thinks Brit hopeful Andy Murray will shine this year at Wimbledon.
Federer’s praise for Murray comes as somewhat of a surprise, the Swiss ace has been quick to quash his chances of winning a Grand Slam in the past, and he has frequently played down Andy Murray’s playing ability.
With the possibility that defending champion Rafael Nadal may have to miss out on SW19 this year, many will believe that Federer will be a shoe-in to reclaim his crown, however he does not think so.
‘Andy Murray’s best surface might be grass, and he is playing excellent’ commented Federer who recently equalled Pete Sampras’s record of fourteen Grand Slam Singles titles when winning the French Open at Roland Garros.
Murray has made no disguise of his lust to beat Federer in a major final, and he is 10/3 with Bet 365 to go all the way at Wimbledon this year – a now clear second favourite behind Federer following the drift of Rafael Nadal in the market.
