Former World No.1 Ferrero Back At Wimbledon

Former World No.1 and French Open champion Juan Carlos Ferrero will compete at Wimbledon after being handed a wildcard for the grasscourt showpiece.

Ferrero, who reached the Quarter-finals at Wimbledon back in 2007, has slipped rapidly down the world rankings over the past few year’s, after recurring injury problems disabled him from playing regularly, and participating to anywhere near his best standard in the Grand Slam Events.

As well as being a master of the clay, Ferrero also made the U.S Open Final in 2003, when his lack of fitness again let him down as he was beaten in straight sets by Andy Roddick.

Now the world No.75, Ferrero will be hoping that he can recapture some of his best form at SW19, as at the age of 29, he may not have too long left in the game at top level. He is best priced 250/1 with Sportingbet to win the Men’s Singles title.
