Former British No.1 and Wimbledon semi-finalist Tim Henman has given his vote to Andy Murray ahead of Wimbledon, declaring that it will take ‘One hell of a performance’ from anyone to deny the Scot his first Grand Slam success at the All England Club.
Henman, who retired from the Sport two year’s ago, has said that Murray’s improved fitness, and his head to head records against Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal will be a crucial factor:
"The way Murray has played in the last 12 months, and his record against both players, it will take a hell of a performance if someone is going to beat Murray’’ said Henman.”He has definitely got a good chance at Wimbledon this year. Physically he is in unbelievable shape now. He is fitter and stronger than he has ever been and that gives him a great platform to work from.’’
Henman also commented on how Murray’s serve has become much more formidable, and also that he believes his overall game cannot fail but to keep improving with experience.
Henman is not the first to back Murray for the title this year at SW19, his former rival Greg Rusedski was also keen to lend his support and backing to the Scot. Murray has also been well supported in the betting for the Mens Singles Championship, and he is a 3/1 chance with Bet 365 to claim his elusive first Grand Slam at Wimbledon, which begins on June 22.
