Marion Bartoli begins her Wimbledon 2011 campaign today
Marion Bartoli is a former Wimbledon finalist, she made the French Open semis, and she won WTA Eastbourne. In short, she's looking great to win her match on Wednesday at the All England Club.
Marion Bartoli, a semifinalist at the 2011 French Open, demonstrated that the run of form was no fluke as she followed up her efforts by winning the WTA Eastbourne title last week.
France's number one couldn't have asked for a better preparation for Wimbledon and, with question marks over a number of key contenders, she will feel that she has a good chance of going all the way at SW19 this month.
She begins her 2011 Wimbledon campaign against young Czech hopeful Kristyna Pliskova this afternoon (Wednesday) and it would be a major shock if the 19-year-old was able to land odds of 12/1, at
bet365, and beat the ninth seed. Bartoli is just 1/19 to claim victory and although those odds are slim, they are probably right.
The French national does, however, have a habit of going missing in sets and making life hard for herself so backing over 17.5 games, at 10/11 looks sensible.
