Bernard Tomic will be looking to take down another veteran as the 18 year old has surprised on more than one occasion at the All England Club this month.
Novak Djokovic, the world number two, is just a couple match-wins away from becoming the top ranked player on tour as the Serb prepares for his quarterfinal match against Bernard Tomic on Wednesday.
Tomic, a player whose playing level is difficult to measure at the moment, enters the match an underdog and since he's already crushed expectations at Wimbledon there is absolutely no pressure on the 18 year old heading into his quarterfinal match.
Tomic enters the final eight having won his last two matches in straight sets, matches that were against Xavier Malisse and Robin Soderling. The Aussie shouldn't have an easy time with Djokovic although one thing that has to be pointed out with the world number two is that he's suffered upset losses at Wimbledon in three straight years.
Tomas Berdych knocked Djokovic out in straight sets last season, Tommy Haas eliminated Djokovic in 2009 in the quarters, and in 2008 75th ranked Marat Safin eliminated Djokovic in round two.
He's certainly no stranger to losing to lower ranked players at the All England Club although should he lose to 158th ranked Tomic it would still be very surprising.
The two players have never met before as Tomic is still relatively inexperienced at the tour level. They will meet in their first career head to head match on Court No. 1 with a stadium start time of 13:00 on Wednesday.
The winner will face the winner between Roger Federer and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the Wimbledon semifinals later this week.
