Roddick Ready for SW19 After Injury Scare

Wimbledon Live Staff - 15 Jun 2009

Former Wimbledon finalist Andy Roddick has been given the all clear to participate in this year’s grass court showpiece, following an injury which he picked up at the AEGON Classic at Queen’s Club.

The fast-serving American was forced to retire from his tie against Lleyton Hewitt at the Wimbledon warm-up event, after seemingly turning over on his ankle. Doubts over his participation at SW19 have since arisen, however a delighted Roddick has declared that he will be fit and ready to launch another assault on the title he has desperately wanted to win all of his life.

"It'll be alright, certainly in time for Wimbledon," said Roddick. "I've had it checked out and I turned it but its ok, and there's nothing serious as far as long term so it was good news considering the situation.’’

Roddick went on to say that he was ‘very optimistic’ regarding Wimbledon, and stated that ‘he is the fittest that he has ever been in his career’ ahead of the Championships. Roddick is a best priced 33/1 with Paddy Power to triumph for the first time at the All England Club in 2009.
