Six-time former champion Roger Federer has dominated his past meetings with Mikhail Youzhny, not dropping a set in eight of their previous match-ups. Federer and Youzhny are two of the three fathers through to the round of 16 from the 10 to start in the main draw. Federer is one of four players (also Nadal, Berdych and Gasquet) not to drop a set so far at the grass-court championship, where he is bidding to equal William Renshaw and Pete Sampras' record of seven Wimbledon titles by winning his 17th Grand Slam title overall. Federer is bidding to contest his 29th successive major quarter-final to extend his Open Era record for most consecutive last eight appearances. He has won 11 grass-court titles and has a 99-14 career record on the surface, behind Lleyton Hewitt (104-27). Federer can overtake Nadal and move to No. 2 in the South African Airways 2011 ATP Rankings if he wins the tournament and the Spaniard fails to reach the final. Youzhny, making his 11th appearance at The Championships, is bidding to reach the last eight for the first time. Youzhny's best grass court performance is reaching the semi-finals as sixth seed at 2003 Halle (l. Federer).
