Federer and Tsonga both head into the Wimbledon quarters having lost just one set through the first four rounds.
Roger Federer and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, two players into the quarters at Wimbledon 2011, will collide in a blockbuster match on Centre Court on Wednesday with the right to advance to the Wimbledon semifinals at stake.
Federer and Tsonga have met four times in the past with the Swiss Maestro taking down four of their previous meetings. The Frenchman has a career victory over Federer as the Tsonga defeated Federer at the Montreal Masters in 2009 however the current world number three has taken down seven straight sets over Tsonga since that match.
Tsonga has only participated in three Wimbledons prior to this year and he's definitely a strong grass courter as he is into his second straight quarterfinal. However his resume is nothing compared to what the six time champion Federer has accomplished at the All England Club.
Tsonga is playing well heading into the match and that is where he will ground some optimism. The 12th seed has dropped just one set at Wimbledon so far and he did well at Queen's Club earlier this month as only Andy Murray was able to stop France's top player.
Despite the head to heads and the Wimbledon history, this is a dangerous match for Federer because Tsonga is playing his best right now. If Federer does not play his best then he could be heading out and he did not put a full match together against Youzhny in round four.
Federer and Tsonga will meet on Centre Court at 13:00 (UK time) on Wednesday with Andy Murray vs Feliciano Lopez to follow.
