Venus Aiming High

Venus Williams has spoken of her desire to match or even better some of the past legends of the game at Wimbledon.

With five Wimbledon Ladies Singles Titles already under her belt, Williams is undoubtedly one of the all time grasscourt greats of the womens game, and the best since Steffi Graf. Another victory at SW19 this year would bring her a sixth title which would move her level with Billie Jean King, and she would equal Graf's record of three consecutive Wimbledon wins.

Ultimately however, she told of how she dreams of dominating the grass for the remaining year's of her career, and possibly overhauling Martina Navratilova's record of nine Wimbledon successes:

'Her career (Navratilova) spanned three decades, so I'm not sure if I have enough time now' said Williams. 'But I definately dream about it. But Tennis is so much different now, it's a big business. All the tournament, draws and players, it's just different and the pressures are different.'

Venus Williams will turn 29 during this year's All England Championships, and she is a best priced 3/1 second favourite with Ladbrokes, behind sister Serena, to make it a half dozen of Wimbledon successes.
