The withdrawal of reigning Men's Singles Champion Rafael Nadal has left the markets suggesting that Wimbledon is now a two horse race.
Roger Federer has occupied favouritism for somw time, however the withdrawal of Nadal has lead to a further contraction in his price. The Swiss ace is now as short as 4/6 in some places but you can still get 10/11 at Totesport. The even money roundly offered earlier in the week has now well and truly dissapeared.
Likewise Andy Murray, who was challenging Nadal for second favouritism in the market, has been cut to a best priced 9/4 from 3/1 with Paddy Power. With Federer and Murray in opposite halves of the draw, the feeling is that a final match up is nailed on. The markets third best - Novak Djokovic is a massive 11/1 with BlueSQ, emphasising that the betting really looks to be a ll about Federer and Murray.
Elsewhere in the market, Andy Roddick is a whopping 25/1 with Sportingbet, who are clearly encouraging the each-way backers. They also offer the best price about Jo Wilifried Tsonga, who is 33/1. With only a handful of men seemigly capable of troubling Federer or Murray, the market is 100/1 bar the top eight seeds.
